Goodbye to My Antique Booth

Sigh...I really wanted to keep my booth going.  Although I've done well with it, I've accepted the fact that it's really difficult to find reasonably-priced antiques in Montana.  They are not plentiful and when you find some, they are pricey.  Turning a profit in this environment is not easy.  I've sold quite a bit and my booth was so empty...without items to replenish it with, I didn't see the point.  My last day was yesterday.  In preparation for the closing, I had a 1/2 price sale and almost everything flew off the shelves.  I was able to walk out with just a couple of boxes of stuff yesterday afternoon when I moved out.  I've had to leave a few larger pieces in there until my husband can help me move them this weekend.  I've Craigslisted those items at deep discounts in hopes that I won't have to move them myself.

The owners and those that run the shop there have been amazing to me.  I am so grateful and I've had a ton of fun.  I also met a great new friend, Jamie, who I'll definitely stay in touch with.

Onward and upward!!!

Valentine's Day

The daughter of my friend, Jamie of Remnants babysat for us last night so that my husband and I could go to dinner.  We had a great time!  Our son loved Jamie's daughter!  My son and I made this cake yesterday and we ate some for dessert when we got home.  It is SOOO good!

When Jamie dropped her daughter off, she gave me this adorable Valentine that she made!  I love it!

I hope you all had a happy Valentine's Day!

Old Books in Twine

I've been making these books for a while out of hardcover antique books and twine.  I just love the way they look with the patina of their old bindings.  I have them stacked here and there in my house and they look perfect wherever I put them.  I had a bunch in my antique booth and they all sold last month.  Now I need to make more!  These are photos of some I have stacked in my home.

For the Love of Target!

I have to say, I really love me some Target. I am completely loyal and you will never find me in Wal-Mart. While grabbing some necessities yesterday, I spied these awesome "plastic" tumblers and wine glasses in my favorite color on clearance for $1.48 each! They look like glass. I found 6 cups and 4 wine glasses. I'll be replacing my glass drinking glasses with these. If you visit me, I hope you don't mind drinking out of plastic! I'll still have glass wine glasses, of course.

Giveaway!!!

Hi Everyone,

I'm very new to blogging and really like the idea and sharing thoughts and photos with others.  I truly enjoy reading everyone's blogs and seeing their inspiring photos.  I also enjoy entering the generous giveaways that other bloggers offer and that has inspired me to do the same.

I'm giving away a really cute magnetic board (see photo)!!!  The magnets are not included but you get the idea of how cute your magnets will look on it.  This is not an antique but has a very vintage look.  The board is approximately 12 X 12 and is made by Terri Conrad Designs.

To enter, please become a "follower" of my blog and also leave a comment.  If you are already a follower, just leave a comment.  I will read every one of them!  On Friday evening, I will print out all of the comments and will cut them into comment strips.  My son will then pull one of your comments out of a hat.   I will announce the winner no later than Saturday morning and will email the winner for their mailing address.

Thanks to everyone for becoming followers and for taking the time to read my blog.  Good Luck!!!

Regret?

I wonder if I made a mistake.  I went by my antique booth today and a woman was eyeing my booth and wanted to buy half of it.  I made her some deals I wouldn't otherwise have been able to make if I hadn't been there in person.  There is one cabinet I half-heartedly put in there at a marked up price, knowing I had no room for it anymore but also not wanting to part with it.  This woman LOVED it, I mean, she LOVED it and couldn't leave the store without buying it but couldn't afford the price I had on it.  She wanted some other things too so I made her a deal.  It was a bargain.  I did well on it, even after marking it down for her.  I'll miss it though.
